Mid-Century Modern 2
Constructed in 1954 by modernist architect, Grosvner Chapman, the residence is sited on a heavily forested, hilly site in Bethesda, MD. The program for improvements called for a full-scale renovation, inside and out, and a large 2-story addition. While the design and massing of the addition follows the lines of the original house, addition of a large clerestory monitor over the living room dominates the revamped interior. Extensive Douglas fir built-ins and cabinets link the main living spaces.
